Final Fantasy VII Remake Boxart Goes All In On Childhood Nostalgia

A breath of fresh Aerith.

The eagerly awaited remake of Square Enix’s classic role-playing game has, at last, had its cover art revealed for the European and North American launch…and it is a perfect shot right in the nostalgia centre of the brain.

One of the most iconic pieces of design has been subtly reimagined for the March 2020 release, a direct homage of lead character Cloud Strife boldly standing in the shadow of the ominous Shinra Corporation building.

A fitting image as this PS4 reboot is only the first part of the sprawling Final Fantasy story originally released in 1997, with Cloud and his rag-tag band of mercenaries roaming around the original Midgar section of the game, with further episodes scheduled to be released in the future.

Square Enix has played a blinder in giving a Phoenix Down to an image that is such a core part of so many childhoods, bringing back memories of sitting cross-legged in front of a huge TV playing their first epic videogame on the original Playstation.
